The Town of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands (NEMI) has an area of 495 km2 and a population of almost 3,000. Just a 90-minute drive south of Sudbury, NEMI includes several small communities as well as homes along the Lake Huron waterfront. Little Current is the main business area and a prime location for new business development, just minutes from the Trans-Canada Highway. A bridge at Little Current provides access to Manitoulin Island, the largest freshwater island in the world. The economy is driven by seasonal tourism, retail, small businesses and agriculture. Little Current remains a popular attraction for lake traffic, with more than 560 metres of town docks.
