Englehart was founded in 1908 as a rail town. Today it is better known for the giant Georgia Pacific wood processing mill, which you can see for miles before you reach the town. The town is just a half-hour drive to the commercial centres of Temiskaming Shores in the south, and Kirkland Lake to the north. There is a thriving agriculture sector in this area, which includes Charlton, Dack, and the townships of Evanturel and Chamberlain. Nearby Kap-Kig-Iwan Park, which protects a picturesque river and a series of cascading waterfalls, provides a range of family and outdoor activities.
